Selecting
Tube Size
The sizes quoted are actual Internal Diameters. To select the right size
either measure the Internal Diameter of the existing tubing in the middle
of a run and select the nearest size from the above, OR, measure the Outside
Diameter of the fixed metal tubes and select the next size down from the
above in order to get a secure fit. If you are still unsure, send me a
sample of the existing tubing and I will recommend the best size. The
very small "Tracker Bar" tubing is 1/8" on the majority of player pianos,
but some did use larger sizes, always check as above.
Rubber Cloth
NOTE:- Supplies from Australia remain difficult
to organise so in the interests of reliability of supply I will be reverting
to the previous USA supplier, since it is under new management and seems
to be functioning satisfactorily.

Leather
Note:- Due to deteriorating quality of available leathers, L1 pouch leather
is now being imported from the USA. This has been specially treated and
sealed and should give good airtight pouches.
UK sourced pouch leather is still available (now L11), but may have pin-holes.
This is suitable for laying under pneumatics as on Aeolian instruments,
or for other similar gasket situations. Not recommended for pouches.
Flap valve leather is now calf leather, thus slightly more expensive,
but better quality.
When ordering leather by the sq. ft. please indicate any mimumum dimensions. This is cut from complete skins, so square pieces are not always practical - often it is easier to supply an oblong strip (e.g. 6" x 24") instead of a 12"x12" square.

I stock a selection
of medium density felt which is useful for most piano applications. It
is approx. 72" (1.8m.) long and is usually required in narrow strips as
priced below (other sizes available on request, priced pro-rata). Depending
on current stock I can also supply pieces priced "per sq. ft.".
I can obtain special hard felts and thick baises from piano trade suppliers
on request (but they work out quite a bit more expensive than this felt).

Suction Box - Motorise your pianola - Price - £380.00 (Postage within UK - £15.00)

These suction boxes are imported from America and are specifically designed for converting pianolas to semi-automatic electric operation. The suction box has electronic variable suction control for play and re-wind and can produce up to 50 inches of suction. The box is 7 inches square and will normally fit in the bottom right of the pianola (external hole needed for electrical cable). The package includes:-
Suction Box (with one way valve
which allows foot pumping when switched off)
Connection Tubing
Metal Flanged elbow (you need to cut a hole in the back of the reservoir
to connect the suction supply)
Control Panel (to be fixed under keyboard)
Re-wind Microswitch (to be linked to re-wind lever to provide different
speed for re-roll)
Fitting and Operating Instructions, screws, wiring.
(NOTE:- Since these are manufactured in
the US, they are 115 volt motors, so you will also need a 230/115 volt
transformer. A suitable transformer is available from Farnell in One
, or try your local B&Q
- some have reasonably priced 110 volt tool transformers in a yellow plastic
case).
Full Automation kit also available, similar to the above
but includes end of roll detection and automatic re-roll and cut-off.
